How they work

On-street computerized Pay and Go pay stations

New computerized pay stations will soon replace parking meters on the streets of Montreal. The Pay and Go system is simple, but needs some getting used to. To find out about all the advantages of our Pay and Go system, visit the Innovation section.

Electronic parking meters

Insert one coin at a time. The insertion of additional coins extends the time. The electronic display indicates the amount of paid parking time. Hours and minutes are separated by a colon (:). For example, 01:20 indicates one hour and twenty minutes. The electronic parking meter accepts all Canadian coins.

Defective equipment

To alert the system about a defective pay station or parking meter, contact customer service at 514-868-3737 or by e-mail at sac@statdemtl.qc.ca

If a pay station is out of order, you can make your payment at another nearby pay station. If a parking meter is defective, it is strongly suggested you find another parking space because, otherwise, you could receive a parking ticket from a parking agent of the Service de police de Montréal (SPVM) who use this as a means of countering vandalism.
