The 2010 ParcoDonMD campaign: Walk of celebrities

ParcoDons are the City of Montréal's retired mechanical parking meters recycled as standing piggy banks designed to collect donations in the form of loose change. All of the funds collected will be used by L'Itinéraire to provide a wide variety of psychosocial services to shatter the isolation of the homeless and restore the confidence and independence they need to improve their living conditions.
For this year's campaign, Stationnement de Montréal and L'Itinéraire decided to call on the talents of Quebec personalities and organizations. We asked each one to "adopt" one of seventy parking meters and decorate it with acrylic paint during workshops held on March 23 and 24 at Montréal's Hotel W.
Over these two days, seventy personalities and organizations created exclusive works of art that were installed on the streets of the Ville-Marie borough on May 4. Each ParcoDon signed by a personality or organization has been surrounded by a star, creating a sort of Montréal version of the famous Hollywood Walk of Fame. While admiring these original creations, curious passersby can now also support a campaign of solidarity with Montréal's homeless.

The way the Pay and Go system works is very simple, but it does take a little getting used to.
